I just know that when I DISABLE the adjustment clip, I can fade in/fade out just fine on the video clip in question. Ideally, I would just like a standard fade out of the end of the video clip, but at least I know that the fade in/fade out issue appears to be related to my "adjustment clip" (I've used the adjustment clip to put cinematic bars across the entire video using standard high and low cropping).Įdit: Whether it is actually the adjustment clip causing the issue or not, I cannot definitively confirm. I don't think there is anything wrong with the program itself, but I probably tinkered incorrectly or imprecisely in the color work-space. That might not be how it works, but that's how I understand it for now. The color grading then responds to this change-in-background, applying the same effects to the now-darkened background (again, due to the fade out), resulting in color changes at the end of the video clip. But when the fade starts, the background naturally changes as well (i.e., it starts to darken due to the fade). It actually happens with the regular fade in/fade out too! I have selected some white lettering to "color grade" towards the end of the video clip, highlighting it yellow. If you're seeing that, something is wrong. Is it possible that I accidentally enabled something that interferes with the standard fade in/fade out? I want to avoid having to add blank titles for perpetuity on my project just so to be able to fade in/fade out. It works perfectly if I add a title above the video I am trying to fade in/fade out and use fade in/fade out on that title (e.g., the video clip on Video 1 and the title on Video 2). My bigger concern is why I can't do the simple fade in/fade out to begin with.

Unfortunately, I am not advanced or sophisticated enough of a user yet to know how to spot-treat a color-grade on a clip so that it doesn't transfer over into a cross-dissolve. That's why I was trying to go with a simple fade in and fade out, so that the color-grading of the first clip doesn't produce weird effects when fading into the second clip. That works, but I am trying to avoid using it because the first clip is color-graded at the end, meaning that its colors change when it starts to cross-dissolve into the second clip (due to the colors of the second clip now being subject to the color-grading of the first clip for the duration of the cross-dissolve).
